Foreign Travel Advice

This is a quick, wildlife-packed tour of Rwanda and Uganda, which you can fit into two weeks' holiday. We set off from Uganda's capital, Kampala, to explore some of the best National Parks in East Africa. We travel to Lake Mburo NP, the only park in Uganda with impalas, slender mongooses and giant bush rats, and Queen Elizabeth NP, where we can see hippos, hyenas, chimps, elephants, leopards and lions.

The centrepiece and highlight of this tour is gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable NP. There are still barely 1,000 mountain gorillas left in the world, so this is a rare experience and one which many people find incredibly moving.

On top of that, we also have the option to see more endangered primates on a trek to track Golden Monkeys in Volcanoes NP, as well as trekking chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest NP, Rwanda's most bio diverse area, before finishing our trip in Kigali.

Overnight in stunning Mburu NP with optional guided walk
2 night safari in QEII NP including boat trip
Calmly sit eye-to-eye with a Silverback mountain gorilla
Optional forest trekking in Ruhengeri & Volcanoes NP
2 nights camping in Nyungwe NP with chimp trekking
Visit a local tea plantation in Rwanda
Visit the thought provoking genocide monument in Kigali

This trip is all about the wildlife, and most nights we'll stay at campsites with good facilities. Drive days are between 3-6 hours. Our mountain gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable NP can be quite physically demanding, as the conditions are hot and humid and the terrain is rough - but the payoff when we see the gorillas makes it worth it.

Day 1 - Kampala (21st December 2020)

Border Information: If you are joining the trip in Kampala, you will most likely enter Uganda at Entebbe International Airport.

Welcome to Kampala! If you would like to explore Kampala fully, we advise you arrive a day earlier to give yourself the time to see some of the highlights in the city - possible activities include visiting the Uganda Museum, the Cathedral and the Kasubi Tombs. Please note that many of the options listed below will only be possible for those with extra time in Kampala before the start of your trip with us - please contact the Sales team if you would like to book pre-tour accommodation with us to have extra time exploring Kampala.

There will be a group meeting today at our joining hotel at 18:00 - your tour leader will meet you at the hotel reception or will leave a note at reception telling you where this important meeting will take place.
